What are the Benefits

Title 38 of the United States Code authorizes two disability programs for Veterans, their dependents and un-remarried surviving spouses: Compensation and Pension. Compensation is awarded to veterans whose disability is a direct result of their active duty military service. Pension furnishes a guaranteed monthly income. The Pension benefit is often mistakenly referred to as “Aid and Attendance.” Each program is targeted towards the needs of different groups of Veterans and their families.
